Worx Releases New Pressure Washer
WORX WG604: Portable, Powerful Pressure Washer
When it comes to cleaning outdoor surfaces, nothing beats the power and speed of a pressure washer. But if you think you must buy an expensive, hulking, noisy gas-powered machine, think again. The WORX Model WG604 is a compact, portable electric unit that provides plenty of power for cleaning virtually any outdoor surface. And because it’s electric, there’s no need to mess with gas and oil. Just plug in the power cord, connect a garden hose and start blasting away.
The WG604 features a high-performance 13-amp motor that produces an impressive 1,600 pounds per square inch of pressure, while delivering 1.3-gallons of water per minute. It has a 25-ft.-long water hose and extra-long 35-ft. power cord. The unit comes with four interchangeable spray nozzles, which store neatly right on the handle (shown below from left to right): high-powered turbo nozzle, 25º narrow-spray nozzle, 40º wide fan-spray nozzle, and a soap nozzle for applying various types of detergents and degreasers. And at $170, the WG604 is affordable, costing about as much as you’d pay to rent pressure washer for the weekend.

The WG604 is perfect for cleaning driveways, sidewalks, wood decks, concrete and brick patios, house siding, fences, patio furniture, boats, cars, trucks, and RVs. And I really like that it comes nearly fully assembled, so you’re ready to start cleaning in less than five minutes: attach the pull handle to the frame, tighten the spray wand onto the spray handle, then connect the water hose to the spray handle using the quick-connect fitting (below). That’s it, the unit is now assembled and ready for action.
I recently used the WG604 to clean a red-cedar deck and steps using the 40º spray nozzle, and it worked beautifully. I started by plugging the power cord an electrical outlet and then attached a garden hose to the threaded fitting on the front of the unit (below).
I poured some concentrated wood cleaner to the soap tank (below), and turned on the garden hose. Important: Never start the pressure washer without first connecting and turning on the garden hose. Running the unit dry can permanently damage the motor.
Using a firm, two-handed grip, I turned on the pressure washer and held the nozzle about 18 in. from the surface (below). Within minutes, I blasted away years of sun-bleached weathering, ground-in dirt and stubborn mildew growth.
